Tactile Connections Kit is a kit for constructing an augmentative communication system for learners who are nonverbal and who have multiple disabilities.  

The Tactile Connections Kit helps teachers create a tactile card system that is individualized or standardized for visually impaired and blind learners, who have additional disabilities and/or lack a formal means of communication or literacy.  

The tactile symbols are created when part of an object is mounted on a hand-sized card representing core vocabulary categories (e.g. people, places, actions, objects, etc.).  

This kit provides some of the essential components that assist in a system’s construction and application. 

The cards are die-cut from heated 3mm Sintra material.

Note: Small parts. Not intended for children ages 5 and under without adult supervision. 

Includes 

This kit includes 7 sets of 15 cards in black, blue, gray, green, red, white, and yellow.  

• The black cards are rectangular in shape. 
• The blue cards are rectangular with a concave shape cut out of the center of one end of the card. 
• The gray cards are rectangular in shape with a scalloped edge on one end of the card. 
• The green cards are rectangular in shape with corners cut to form a point on one end 
• The red cards are rectangular in shape with the corners trimmed on one end. 
• The white cards are rectangular in shape with one rounded side. 
• The yellow cards are rectangular in shape with three points on one end. 

Sized 25.7 x 8.9 cm (2 ¼” x 3 ½”). 

5 of these have two 0.3cm (1/8”) holes 1.5cm (5/8)” centre to centre, 5.2cm (2 1/16”) from the bottom edge.
